I’m a PhD scientist turned healer, combining grounded science with inspirational spirit.
I’m autistic, and I live with hypermobility and a thyroid condition, so exhaustion and pain have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Instead of letting that hold me back, it became my motivation to explore healing in a deeper, more holistic way: first for myself, and now for others.
Stepping off the wrong team
In 2013 I was working as a research scientist at a biotechnology company when I had a profound realisation. I saw how profiteering sat at the heart of the industry, and I knew I was on the wrong team. To many it looked as if I’d lost my mind, but for me it was a necessary step to align my life with my values. I decided to step away.
I focused on my small children and retrained in a range of healing methods, while navigating life as a single parent of four after separating from my children’s father. I took part-time roles to keep us going, balancing motherhood with my own growth, and healing became a priority. Over the years I immersed myself in studying and practising different modalities: [[the trainings and qualifications Amy wants listed]].
Why I created the Framework
Along the way I noticed one thing clearly: healing takes time, and most people, especially parents, simply don’t have enough of it. What took me 25 years could happen far more quickly if everything was in one place. That’s why I created the Elemental Alchemy Framework: a toolkit that blends grounded scientific theory with spiritual practice to address mind, body and spirit together. Healing is complex and has many causes, and a comprehensive approach in one place can accelerate transformation.
You don’t have to be fully healed
For a long time I believed I had to be fully healed, free of every ailment and “perfect”, before I could help anyone else, as if there were an end point to reach. I’ve realised the beauty isn’t in the end point; it’s in the journey and the steps we take along the way. You don’t need to be fully healed to help someone else: the person you support only needs to be a step or two behind you. Like in science, you don’t wait until you know everything. You apply what you’ve learned and refine as you go.
I used to hold back, afraid of judgement. But playing small doesn’t protect you; there will always be people who disapprove. Courage is showing up anyway and sharing what you know, because helping one person creates a ripple effect.
Looking back, I’m grateful for my path. Being a single mum, coming through a relationship breakdown and raising four young children shaped me into the resilient, resourceful person I am today. Now, with my children a little older, the time feels right to share my knowledge and tools more widely, especially with busy parents who want effective, practical ways to support their own healing.
