The mind sends the signal. The Mind pillars are Mental, Emotion and Listening: where beliefs shape biology, emotions become guides, and deep listening connects you to yourself.

Mindset is vital to healing. If you carry out shamanic or body practices without believing in what you are doing, you aren’t fully invested in your own healing. Being sceptical is fine, as long as you keep an open mind; it’s rigid thinking that gets in the way. What we believe shapes how the body responds, and so do kindness, gratitude and appreciation. Focus matters too: scattered attention creates scattered results.

M · Mental

Conscious awareness, thought patterns and mental clarity.

The science. Neuroplasticity shows the brain’s capacity to rewire in response to learning and intention. The placebo and nocebo effects show, measurably, that what we expect changes what we experience.

The spirit. The mind is the interface between spirit and body. Meditation, visualisation and belief shifting create intentional transformation.

Try this. Sit for five minutes and simply watch your thoughts go by, without following them or pushing them away. Notice which ones return. Those are the beliefs to get curious about.

Practices in the sessions: visualisation, meditation, belief shifting, energy editing, mindfulness.

E · Emotion

The intelligence of feelings: emotions as guides to healing and insight.

The science. Emotional states influence hormone balance and neurochemistry. Psychoneuroimmunology studies how thoughts and feelings affect the nervous, endocrine and immune systems.

The spirit. Emotions are energy in motion. Through conscious processing, somatic movement or ceremony, we release trapped emotional energy and restore flow. Emotions are neither good nor bad: they are information.

Try this. When a strong feeling arrives, name it and find where it sits in your body. Breathe into that place, then let your body move, shake or sigh for a minute.

Practices in the sessions: somatic release (shaking, dancing, movement), journaling limiting beliefs, energy editing, tools from CBT and NLP, gratitude and kindness practices.

L · Listening

Conscious attention to body, mind, environment and subtle energies.

The science. Mindfulness and somatic awareness sharpen interoception, our sense of what is happening inside the body, and improve emotional regulation and our attunement to others. Sound reaches us through the ear and the auditory nerve, and the brain’s hearing pathways connect closely with the systems that govern emotion, breathing, heart rate and the stress response. That’s one reason sound can have such a profound effect on healing.

The spirit. Listening develops intuition and awareness of unseen guidance; it is a form of energetic reception, and the bridge that connects mind to body and spirit.

Try this. Close your eyes and listen for the furthest sound you can hear, then the nearest, then the sound of your own breath. Notice how your body settles as your attention widens.

Practices in the sessions: listening meditations, tuning into emotions, sound resonance and tuning forks, body scans, observing the cycles of nature.
