In Ayurveda, the traditional medicine of India, dinacharya means daily routine: the rhythms of waking, eating, moving and sleeping that keep body and mind in balance. It’s one of the simplest and most powerful parts of the Life pillar.

Everything in nature is cyclical: the day, the moon, the seasons and the stages of life. When we live out of step with those rhythms, eating late, sleeping erratically, never resting, stress builds up. When we work with them, our energy has something steady to rest on.

Four places to begin

  • Morning. Wake at a similar time each day, drink a glass of warm water, and take a few minutes to stretch or breathe before reaching for your phone.
  • Meals. Make lunch your main meal, when digestion is strongest, and keep the evening meal lighter and earlier.
  • Sleep. Dim the lights in the evening and aim to be in bed at a regular time.
  • Seasons. Eat what is in season, and let your routine shift a little as the year turns.

Small, consistent practices create profound change over time. Pick one, not all four.
